5 Summer day trips from Barcelona

Date:

Following with our top 4 spring day trips from Barcelona… Here is the summer edition: the 5 summer day trips from Barcelona list! And this time the result is a mix of beach, mountain and lakes to suit all tastes. Hello, summer!

Sadernes: beautiful gorges

There are some mountain hikes that are perfect for the summer. For instance: Sadernes. Sadernes is a small village located in La Garrotxa (an area that is truly stunning, especially in the autumn) and from there you can embark on a beautiful hike across various gorges ending in the most beautiful one: the gorge “Gorg Blau”.

Why do we consider this one of the best day trips (or even getaways) for the summer? Because you can hike while enjoying beautiful views, and make stops along the way to swim in the beautiful gorges. Also, you have the opportunity to escape the city’s heat and cool down in the mountain gorges. Can it get any better than this? :-)

Llac de Banyoles: a natural swimming pool

It is not the first time we have written about Banyoles lake. We love it anytime of the year! But definitely summer is the best time, as you can swim in the lake and enjoy the views from a different perspective (there is actually a designated swimming area, somewhat like a pool). You can also enjoy sports like canoeing and cross the lake. And since this lake is surrounded by dense vegetation, taking a “siesta” under the trees after having lunch might be a great idea as well. What else could you ask for a summer day trip from Barcelona?

Begur: a beautiful town in la Costa Brava

Begur gets really crowded in the summer, that’s a fact. But at the same time, summer is one of the most perfect seasons to enjoy this town. You just have to look at the coves and inlets in Begur, its crystalline water and wild beaches all surrounded by genuine dense vegetation. So, here is our recommendation: if you have the chance, visit this town during the months of June or September (July and August get really crowded).

Calella de Palafrugell, an old fishing village

The first weekend of July, this town hosts a famous musical event: “Cantada d’Havaneres de Calella de Palafrugell”. At the Port Bo beach, one of the most beautiful spots of this town, music groups of this genre gather together to delight the public with the melody of these popular songs called “havaneres”. Both the music and the environment makes it a beautiful event worth experiencing. It’s a beautiful village, which is always nice to visit, but especially in the summer.

Cadaqués, always beautiful, but especially in the summer

One of the most wonderful towns in the country, and summer brings out its full charm. It’s a great season to enjoy the many coves in Cadaqués, and to delve into the story of Salvador Dalí by visiting his home in Portlligat. If you are planning a weekend trip, Cap de Creus is also well worth a visit!
