What are the best bakeries in Barcelona? If you love that warm and delicious feeling when you walk into a traditional bakery, you can’t miss this article!
Forn Mistral
So here is a daily challenge: try to walk Astúries street and not stop by this bakery to get some delicious chocolate croissants. Really, you gotta be strong. But jokes aside, this is one of the best bakeries in Barcelona, especially when it comes to homemade pastries such as croissants or ensaïmades. But even their bread stands out: pa de pagès from Forn Mistral was awarded as the “best pa de pagès” in 2019. And to be honest, it’s no wonder. Also delicious.
Turris
This one is a bit different from the ones we have listed so far. It also keeps the traditional values when making bread, understanding it as an art, and from one first bakery they ended up creating what is one of the most famous bakery chains in Barcelona. Best part: they have managed to preserve their initial values based on tradition and quality making one of the best bread in the city. Our recommendation: barra “Turris”, “xusco de cereals” and their traditional “pa de pagès”.

Fleca Balmes
What does a traditional Catalan bakery, founded many many years ago, look like? When you walk into Fleca Balmes you instantly get the answer. This traditional bakery in Barcelona has managed to keep this charming traditional aesthetic that makes it a genuine and charming bakery. Also, we didn’t forget the best part: they make delicious bread and pastries, keeping and fostering “the art of making bread”.
Cloud Street Bakery
We had to add an “exotic” name to the list! And this is Cloud Street Bakery, a bakery which was founded in 2013 but actually keeping the same space of the bakery that was before, which was founded in 1926. So they have managed to keep the traditional essence with a completely artisan creation. Besides bread and traditional pastries, you will also find Hot Cross Buns, English Muffins, New York Sourdough and Soft Bretzels. Also, in 2019 their panettone was awarded as best panettone in Spain!
