Date:

Have you explored Sant Antoni neighborhood yet? It is one of the coolest neighborhoods in Barcelona: art galleries, cool bars, iconic shops… And we have prepared this brief guide to discover the corners and hidden gems of this beautiful neighborhood.

Mercat de Sant Antoni

Mercat de Sant Antoni, food and textile market

After years awaiting to be reopened, the iconic food market Mercat de Sant Antoni reopened recently. The results of the remodeling works: a beautiful market which is probably one of the most iconic places of this neighborhood. And the secret is probably that it has managed to keep its essence as a local market. This covered market offers:

  • Food market: you will find little shops offering local products (vegetables, fish, fruits…).
  • Mercat Encants de Sant Antoni: this market is also placed inside Mercat de Sant Antoni and counts with a wide variety of shops: jewelry, clothes, home decor…

Mercat Dominical de Sant Antoni

This is a market held on Sundays in the Sant Antoni neighborhood, and it is one of the most iconic, specially for collectors of books, postcards, coins… Old treasures that you could only find at this market.

Carrer Parlament: cool bars and restaurants

Carrer Parlament is one of the most popular streets in the Sant Antoni neighborhood, with the coolest cafeterias, bars and restaurants. A street with a combination of historical bars and new restaurants, that attract many people to have drinks and spend a great time with friends.

Sant Antoni is well connected to the city center

It only takes around a 10-minute walk to get from Sant Antoni to the city center. And that is also a huge advantage when looking for an apartment in Barcelona (either for a couple of days or for a short/long term stay). It also means saving time and money on public transport/taxis.

Vintage and iconic shops

Sant Antoni neighborhood has beautiful vintage and iconic shops that definitely build the identity of this neighborhood, among them:

  • Llibreria Calders: charming and historical bookstore.
  • Free Time: paper and magazine lovers, this is your place.
  • La Llama store: focused on humor stuff though many forms (books, gadgets, etc.).
  • El recibidor: this store of vintage furniture is so cool.

Cool art showrooms and galleries in Sant Antoni

You can feel that cultural vibe almost everywhere. Definitely an alternative cultural scene keeps growing in this neighborhood. Two places where you can perceive what we are talking about: Escalera de incendios (independent and emerging contemporary art) and Crisolart galleries (galleries that showcase international contemporary art).

Sant Antoni: a neighborhood that apparently has the formula to combine past and future. A binomial which seems to live in peace and complement each other, making this area one of the cool neighborhoods in Barcelona.
