A walk around the old town

To get to know the history of this village, we suggest you to take a walk around the old town, which is located on a little hill. There you will meet historical buildings, such as St. Pere’s church, and the remains of Figueres historical wall.

Castell de Sant Ferran

Did you know that Sant Ferran Castle is actually the largest fortress in Europe? It is located on a hill in Figueres, and it was built during the 18th century. If you love to hear the stories that castles usually hide, don’t forget to include a visit to Castell de Sant Ferran.

Day trip from Barcelona to Figueres: how to get there?

Public transport

If you decide to use public transport from Barcelona to Figueres, the duration of the journey will depend on the type of train you take:

  • AVANT: 1h 15 minutes
  • REGIONAL: 2h 15 minutes

You will have to take one of those trains at the Barcelona-Sants station and get off at the “Figueres-Vilafant” train station. From there, you will have to walk around 15 minutes to get to the Dalí Museum. 

Private or rental car
