Best music festivals in Barcelona

Date:

There are some internationally well-known music festivals which take place in Barcelona. So if you are a newbie to the city and you love live music, we are pretty sure you have already checked which ones to attend. But just in case you still have some doubts… We made a list of our favorite music festivals in Barcelona ;-)

Because, to be honest, barely a few things can beat a music festival in Barcelona, in the Summer!

#1 Cruïlla

We placed Cruïlla in the first place, and it has a reason (or more) to be. Not because this festival brings the most popular bands (which sometimes does), but because it is one of the festivals that we feel more “local”. And by that we mean that it gets less crowded and it feels more familiar. Besides, it takes place in July and we feel the summer so deep on our skin: Sun, sea, happiness, friends… In terms of musical proposals, Cruïlla brings a perfect mix of local and international bands, which are also mixed with cultural proposals (some theatre plays take place between concerts). Cruïlla definitely means friends, fun, Summer and happiness.

#2 Primavera Sound

Probably one of the most famous music festivals in Barcelona (if not the most), mainly because it brings the bands and singers which are killing it right-now. The poster of the festival, which they manage to announce little by little with quite amazing campaigns, is one of its main strengths (if not the main).

This festival gets to reunite the most powerful music proposal. This is why lots of people from around the world come together to PS to avoid missing their favorite bands performing in this festival. On a personal note: Primavera Sound means the Summer is just around the corner, but not yet: jackets are a must and one of the days during the festival it usually rains (this is kind of a weather tradition, since it happens every year). But it is worth it ;-)

#3 Sónar

Electronic music lovers, this is your festival without a doubt. One of the things that we like about this festival is that it offers two types of tickets: “Sonar de Dia” and “Sonar de Nit”. We specially love enjoying this festival “During the day”, a different way to enjoy a music festival mainly because they usually take place at night. And beyond a music festival, Sónar offers a proposal which mixes music, creativity and technology, which makes it one of the most innovative music festivals in Barcelona. Besides, if you have kids, you can also go with them to this music festival since there is this proposal “Sónar kids” aimed at the little ones. Isn’t that cool?

#4 Festival Jardins de Pedralbes

Probably the most intimate music festival in Barcelona. The location, Jardins de Pedralbes, is the perfect place to host a musical proposal which focuses on bands and singers which are specially enjoyed while sitting on a chair better than standing up and dancing (this pretty much says it all about how different it is compared to Primavera Sound ;-P). More intimate bands, in a quieter place. Besides, at the entrance of these gardens you will find some food trucks and areas where to eat, which is ideal for an early dinner before the concert.

Have you ever been to one of these best music festivals in Barcelona? Tell us about it!
