6 day trips from Barcelona

Date:

Beyond Barcelona: what about exploring beautiful spots by enrolling on one of the best day trips from Barcelona to discover new places around?  We made a list including 6 Barcelona day trips (plus one bonus trip) ordered from the closest to the furthest from Barcelona. And here is the result ;-)

A day trip to Sitges

The closest to Barcelona, ideal if you love to spend a day by the sea in a beautiful village. Narrow streets, little shops and the sea make it a nice scenario for a walk on a Sunday. Also, you can enjoy one the most typical Spanish dishes “paella” at one of the many restaurants that you will find by the sea.

Day trip from Barcelona to Girona

You can arrive directly to Girona from Barcelona by train, as we described in our article Day trip: Girona from Barcelona by train. You will find lots of things to do in Girona: from visiting the old town to walking the historic wall from which you will get beautiful views from this city. Also, if you are a big fan of the Game of Thrones series, you can’t miss some of the spots where some scenes were filmed (among them, the beautiful steps that lead to the iconic Cathedral of the city).

Day trip from Barcelona to a beautiful lake: Llac de Banyoles

In the mood for a picnic on a Sunday by the lake? Llac de Banyoles might be a great option for a one day trip from Barcelona. Also, you might want to take a dip in the water or kayaking if you visit this place in Summer. Discover more about this place on one of our latest posts: One day trip from Barcelona, Banyoles Lake.

  • 1h 30 minutes from Barcelona by car.

Day trip from Barcelona to the magic woods: La Fageda d’en Jordà (La Garrotxa)

We recommend visiting la Fageda d’en Jordà during Autumn to experience the magic of its leafy woods. Also, you will have the chance to visit these two volcanoes: Volcà de Santa Margarida (which we recommend you to walk inside to get a special feeling of peace melt with nature) and Volcà del Croscat. Definitely one of the best day trips from Barcelona.

  • 1h 30 minutes from Barcelona by car.

Day trip from Barcelona to a beautiful town: Cadaqués

Definitely my favourite village in Catalonia. If you haven’t visited Cadaqués yet, we highly recommend you to include this beautiful village on your list of places to visit: its iconic white houses, narrow and beautiful streets with its artists showrooms will probably make you fall in love with this village too. Also, if you love art, you have the chance to get to know the place which inspired the work of the iconic Salvador Dalí. Include Portlligat and his museum-house in your mandatory visits while in Cadaqués ;-) Find out more on Weekend getaway: from Barcelona to Cadaqués.

  • 2h 15 minutes from Barcelona by car.

BONUS: Parc Nacional d’Aigüestortes

Not the best day trip from Barcelona, but definitely one of the best weekend trips from Barcelona:

One of our favourite places in Catalonia. A paradise for mountain lovers. This is the furthest trip from Barcelona, and that is why we highly recommend to spend a weekend or a couple of days to discover not only the park but also the beautiful mountain villages nearby (Isil, Esterri d’Àneu, Espot, etc.).

  • 4h from Barcelona by car.

Have you made any of these day trips from Barcelona already? Which one of these is your favourite? ;-)
