Summer is just around the corner, and we are already making this year’s “beach wishlist”… starting with the best beaches in Begur! No matter if we have been there many times, we love the beautiful coves in that area along with that vibe of a fisherman’s village. So in case you are working on your “beach wishlist” as well, don’t forget to include the following coves ;-)
Platja Fonda
This is the wildest, and probably our favorite beach in Begur. Besides being a heavenly beach with those green and blue colors, what makes the scenario perfect is the combination of crystal clear water with the dense vegetation in the background. If you are looking for spots to go diving in the area, platja Fonda is one of the best options. And since a picture is worth a thousand words, here is what we mean by the perfect water and vegetation combination:
Aiguablava
Okay so let’s move on to the second position: Aiguablava. If you know a little bit of Catalan the name of this cove itself might give you a key clue. The water of this beach has this intense blue color that reminds us of beaches in the Balearic Islands such as Formentera or Menorca.
And if you are a “chiringuito” kind of person, you will be glad to know that this beach also has a couple of restaurants where you can have lunch or even a vermut at midday. Since this beach gets pretty crowded in peak season, we recommend you to go there early, or even better: visiting during off season (for instance June or September).
Sa Tuna
The perfect picture of a fisherman’s village: Sa Tuna. With its iconic colored houses on the left, this place feels so magical. It still preserves the fishermen’s villages which coexist with many services nearby such as restaurants, bars, shops, ice cream shops, etc. It is definitely one of the most charming beaches in Begur, and from which you can take the camí de ronda path that leads to other beautiful coves.
S’Illa Roja
The beach with this stunning and huge rock which divides the beach into these two coves. S’Illa Roja is such an iconic beach. It also has this combination that we pointed out in Platja Fonda, of a beautiful beach surrounded by savage nature. And that gives this beach a genuine personality. So when we think of the best beaches in Begur, S’Illa Roja definitely makes it on the list.
Sa Riera
It is the biggest beach among Begur beaches. Its genuine part lies in the fact that it still preserves the old fishermen’s houses. It also counts on plenty of services, such as restaurants, cafeterias, etc.
Have you ever been to Begur? How many of these beaches have you been to? Which one is your favorite? Let us know in the comment section below!
