It was a religious building until 1715 when Felip V ordered the demolition of part of the convent’s dependencies for the construction of the Ciutadella. The Convent de Sant Agustí took on the role of a military station, becoming the Royal Military Academy of Mathematics from 1720 to 1803. The military use of the convent continued until 1980.

From a convent to a community center

In the 1990s, a process of recovering the historic building began. The rehabilitation of the building started to transform it into a community center, which has become one of the most notable civic centers in the district of Ciutat Vella.
