Fall in La Garrotxa

It is one of the most beautiful areas, especially in fall, a season that brings out the best of it. We are talking about La Garrotxa, one of our favorite regions for many reasons, but mainly because of its geology and its halo of mysticism. Today’s article is dedicated to this beautiful land of volcanoes.

Fageda d’en Jordà

It is one of the most iconic spots in La Garrotxa, especially during fall. Walking through the blanket of fallen leaves, and surrounded by the yellow-brown-orange fall palette, it just feels magic. Definitely a must visit during this season.

Volcà del Croscat

We could refer to la Garrotxa as a “land of volcanoes” for a really strong reason: it is home to  45 volcanoes! And one of the most famous that you can actually visit is the “Croscat”, the youngest volcano in the Iberian Peninsula. Theser are the views from the inside of the Croscat volcano:

Volcà de Santa Margarida

And besides the Croscat volcano, there is another one that you can visit: “Santa Margarida” volcano. You can actually access the inside of this volcano, from where you will get a 360º. Also, you will find an ermitage right in the middle of it.

La Vall d’en Bas

This valley is made up of eight villages: Hostalets d’en Bas, Puigpardines, El Mallol, Sant Privat d’en Bas, Joanetes, Sant Esteve d’en Bas and La Pinya.

Besalú

Besalú is a beautiful medieval town, with an iconic romanesque bridge from the 12th century over the Fluvià river. Walking the streets of this town feels like traveling back in time.
